Part of Alexander McQueen’s Resort 2015 collection under Sarah Burton, this cardigan captures one of the season’s most recognisable ideas: traditional menswear checks reworked with vivid, art-led floral detailing.

For Resort 2015, Burton combined classic houndstooth and Prince of Wales checks with floral motifs influenced by Henri Matisse’s cut-outs and Japanese visual references. Rendered here as a fitted jacquard-knit cardigan, the design mixes several black-and-white geometric patterns across the body and sleeves, finished with rich cobalt-blue floral detailing around the lower front. The crew neckline and classic button-front construction keep the silhouette refined, allowing the contrasting pattern work to remain the focus.
