First introduced in 1947, Gucci’s Bamboo bag was born from a period of post-war material scarcity, when the House’s Florentine artisans turned to bamboo as an innovative alternative for handbag handles. Each handle was shaped over an open flame, creating the curved silhouette that would become one of Gucci’s most enduring design signatures.

The Bamboo 1947 revisits that archival icon through a structured leather silhouette, retaining the hand-curved bamboo handle and distinctive bamboo closure. Presented here in black leather with tonal black bamboo hardware, the medium silhouette is accompanied by two interchangeable straps, allowing it to transition effortlessly between top-handle, shoulder and crossbody wear.
